Things to do in June
Keep weeding and deadheading
Cut back and tidy up spring-flowering perennials
Cut down the faded foliage of bulbs, lifting and dividing clumps as required
Harvest vegetables as they come to maturity
Plant out tender vegetables
Sow chicory to force in winter
Peg down a few strawberry runners to make new plants

Vegetables and Herbs
Continue to harvest all crops as they mature
Japanese onions that were sown last year will now be ready to harvest
You may be able to harvest early potatoes towards the end of the month
Plant celery in trenches prepared during winter or spring
Sow red chicory
Continue to sow peas
Plant out runner beans
Keep sowing salad vegetables in small quantities at regular intervals
Plant out ridge cucumbers
Plant and sow marrows, courgettes, pumpkins and squashes outside
Sow turnips for an autumn crop
Sow Chinese cabbage and other Oriental vegetables
Plant out winter brassicas sown earlier
Plant out sweetcorn
Feed asparagus after flowering
Protect from carrot fly
Plant herbs in containers
