Great news for Shettleston Community Growing Project

Last updated: 12.16pm, Thursday 30th April 2020 by

The Shettleston Community Growing Project is delighted to report that the National Lottery Community Fund has awarded the project follow-on funding for the next three years. The award will pay for the project coordinator post, which is central to allow the good work to continue: helping local people grow food for their families, getting children involved through the Smelly Welly club after- school and holiday programme, running a volunteer programme, working with local schools and delivering a programme of special events for the whole community. Exciting new work we will be getting involved in will be helping to establish a community pantry in the local area that will give people access to low cost food, including fresh fruit and vegetables. The Lottery funding is great news for the project and as we look forward to our 10th anniversary next year we are confident we can continue to make a difference for people in our community.

At the moment, of necessity, many of our activities are suspended due to the Coronavirus lockdown. However, it won’t last forever and in the meantime we are continuing to keep the site in good shape and our crops growing so that we can pick things up quickly when allowed to do so. We hope all our members, neighbours and supporters are keeping safe and we look forward to seeing you all soon.
