COP26 Climate Conference 2021

COP26 is the biggest and most important climate-related conference on the planet and it is taking place for the next two weeks right here on our doorstep in Glasgow.
Since 1992 when the UN organised a major event in Rio de Janeiro called the Earth Summit, in which the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was adopted. At that time all the nations involved agreed to "stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere” to prevent dangerous interference from human activity on the climate system.
Since 1994, when the treaty came into force, every year the UN has been bringing together almost every country on earth for global climate summits or “COPs”, which stands for ‘Conference of the Parties’.
This year should have been the 27th annual summit, but thanks to Covid 19, it has fallen a year behind due to last year’s postponement – hence, COP26.
This is without doubt the most important conference for the 197 signatories representing their respective countries to save the planet for its inhabitants and to ensure that our children and grandchildren have a planet left to live on. We have no other inhabitable planet that we know of in our universe and we must do everything that we can to save this one.
Everyone can play their part in helping to save our planet, from planting flowers and trees to responsible recycling, every small action has a major impact and if we all continue to do our small part this year, next year and the years after we can make a difference.
The eyes of the world will be watching COP26, lets all hope that they make the right decisions and more importantly, honour them.
Client Earth have produced a Jargon busting information sheet that breaks everything that will be taking place at the conference in easy understandable words…Please if you have time, download it and give it a read and throughout the 2 weeks you can catch up with updates/Live Feeds on the dedicated page at
